Coping with Coronavirus at Lido Shores

In response to the CoronaVirus threat:

Testing

For latest information about COVID-19 testing and vaccine registration, go to www.sarasotahealth.org.  Testing programs change, but currently tests can be obtained at:

  • Robert L. Taylor Community Complex (walk-up site, no appointment needed), 8am-4pm, until capacity is reached.

  • 5400 (Old) Bradenton Road (drive through, no appointment necessary), 9am-5pm, until capacity is reached.  Includes rapid tests.

  • Some Sarasota pharmacies are offering tests, but not in all locations.  See their websites for details.

Vaccines

Vaccine supply is limited.  Currently eligible are first responders, or anyone over 65 years of age who can guarantee they will be in Sarasota for 28 days (in order to receive booster shots).  You MUST provide proof of Sarasota residence in order to receive a vaccine (Florida driver’s license, utility bills addressed to you, a copy of your lease or title, etc.)

You can register for appointments in Sarasota through the Everbridge phone app at http://bit.ly/VAX941 .  Additional information is available on www.sarasotahealth.org.  You must create a new profile, even if you already receive emergency notices through Everbridge.  No appointments are given.  When vaccines become available, you will be contacted if you have registered.  Registration confirmations are released at 7pm each night.

If you want to find your registration number, log into your COVID Everbridge account at the bottom of the page at https://member.everbridge.net/730492332670985/login   Look for your profile and at the bottom of the page you will find an account number. This is your place in the vaccination queue.

You can also register through the Sarasota COVID phone bank at (1-941-861-8297), within the same requirements as through the on-line registration process.

If you are ill...

Sarasota hospitals have been operating efficiently, but are seriously overcrowded.  If you experience any COVID symptoms, call your physician before going to an emergency room unannounced.  Sarasota also operates an Urgent Care Center for non-life threatening health issues at St. Armand’s (500 John Ringling Blvd.)  Sarasota health care offices do not require COVID tests for medical appointments, but will require masks, take your temperature and may deny access to anyone who has traveled outside Sarasota in the past two weeks.
